20th Century Fox is now in pre-production on the feature film "Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules", which is based on Jeff Kinney's second illustrated novel about wise-cracking junior high school student Greg Heffley. Kinney works full-time as a writer and designer of online games such as the kid-friendly website Poptropica. Zachary Gordon was hired to play the role of Greg Heffley after an extensive 9-month talent search through an Online Open Casting Call. (Casting Listed on Dare2Audition)

The first adaptation, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, was released on March 19, 2010 and has grossed over $63 million at the Box Office in the USA, and the novel has sold over 28 million copies. That film hits the big screen in the UK on August 27, 2010.

The upcoming second live-action adaptation is about Greg Heffley, his older brother Rodrick, and the school talent show. If the film does well at the box office, it is likely 20th Century Fox will continue the series.
