Many A-list actors have been approached for lead roles including, Guy Pearce, Vince Collosimo, Clare Van Der Boom, Sam Neill, Peter Phelps, Noni Hazelhurst, although not yet confirmed. With Tony Boner from The Pacific, Anzacs & Man From Snowy River, Dale Dye from The Pacific, already confirmed.
Synopsis: An ode to the Anzac’s filled with Pathos, action, humour, friendship and that definitive Australian spirit. When war comes in 1914 Jonathan Brown is married with a good future. He and his three friends must choose between their lives at home and their duty to their country. Not seeing the war as an adventure, the close friends choose their family. But after the death toll at Gallipoli, the imminent arrival of the North Coasters recruiting March in 1996 force Jonathan’s decision. After fighting through the hardships of battle, the men of the 34th come to Passchendaele, and into hell. Many good men fall in this horrific and bloody battle. Jonathan’s inner struggle begins to show. The fear of losing his compassion and returning home to his wife and family a changed man.
But in war, all men change. In March 1918 the German army unleashes their final offensive, forcing the allies back. The 34th Battalion are sent into the middle of this climatic battle. With all at stake, will the Australian, New Zealand and British troops be able to help save the French town of Villers- Bretonneux? A gritty and grim window to the past, Jonathan’s story begins a personal and human element to the concept of war. How will this gentle and kind man survive the horrors of the Western Front. How will he return?
Travel with these men to the front lines. Be with them, change with them. Charge the enemy with them. Cry and laugh with them.
Production Notes
With the ideal running time to tell our EPIC story sitting at 146 minutes & being shot in 16 x 9 widescreen it will certainly catch the eye of film buffs everywhere. The professionalism & production values of this film will be very high, due to the experience of the crew & calibre of talent. The goal is to make it look as if it were shot on a huge budget like Australia ($100 mil)
We have some strong contacts with some big names in the industry & we intend to involve them in the film to use both their advice as industry professionals & because well known & influential names increase marketability! ..... Productions does not see the project as being a long shooting period as there would be a great amount of pre production preparation required & things change during actual pre-production due to other bookings, accidents & other unforeseen circumstances.
